Backstory
I met Lisa & Michael almost a decade ago through mutual friends when we all lived in Brooklyn's Boerum Hill.
At the time, I was a social weirdo, but more specifically: a new mother going through a divorce and trying my best to find my footing. Lisa & Michael were a breath of fresh air. Fun, funny, laid back and just impossibly cool.
If they had a cult, I was joining. Soon, I had the shower curtain and bathmat to prove it. (Rewind back to the early days of Quiet Town when I made it on their blog called The Wake Up.)
After moving east to the North Fork a few years back, then ultimately all the way west to Marin County where they live today, we've made a point to keep in touch, but I'll level: I miss having these two around town, now a little more quiet in their absence. How perfectly clever.
With love, Alessandra
Q+A
The Spot
HI! We're Lisa and Michael Fine, co-founders of Quiet Town. I think the newest thing going on with us is that we're driving to L.A. tomorrow (for the night) to see Joni Mitchell. We're so excited. We've actually got a lot of travel coming up, which is both exciting and a bit nerve-wracking, especially when you own your own business.
Oh and The Spot, a modular shower organizer that hangs over your shower head or mounts to the wall!
Lisa and Michael finding the sun
Our deck for sunset is a favorite. We also love to sit in the sunniest spot of our friend Kris's coffee shop, Longway, in town.
We hike a lot these days. sometimes long ones that take 5-6 hours and sometimes short and vertical. The easiest way to transition or shift gears from reality to creative is a shower. It's transformative. and it's a place to figure shit out.
At the beach. definitely. It's that negative space and the smell of the ocean air.
Just being able to lay in the hot sand.
Hahaha...ohhhh daily i think! It's an emotional roller coaster over here!
The easiest way to get through it is movement. Walking. Smells really get us going too. Lighting some special incense. Or just walking through a bay forrest here. Or if it's spring & summer then the jasmin is kind of all we need to elevate our mood.
A Fine Recommendation
I use A.OK Body Oil whenever I want to really treat myself. Right onto wet skin and left to air dry.
Michael is way less precious about it. If anything is going on his skin, it's always going to be A.OK.

A beautiful sky. My friend Mo and I always text each other around this time of day, snapping and share a shot anytime the sky makes for a particularly special sight.
Jasmin is our all-time favorite.
A quiet hike to listen to the birds.
Herbs. Any and all herbs.
Crisp cotton.
